Nottingham Express Transit
The £360 million Nottingham Express Transit Phase 2 (NET Phase 2) being developed jointly by Nottingham City Council and Nottinghamshire County Council will deliver 16.6 km extensions to the existing NET Phase 1 tram system. The extensions will create a link from the southern termination of Phase 1 at Nottingham railway station along two legs; one via Beeston and Clifton and the second through Wilford and Clifton.
We worked with the Promoters during the promotion of the Transport and Works Act Order required for the extensions. We dealt with all property-based objections to the Order, utilising our in depth experience of similar issues on other schemes, our knowledge of the Order application rules and the compulsory purchase compensation code. This led to the negotiation of a number of agreements with objectors, leading to the withdrawal of their objections.
Since the finalisation of the Public Inquiry, we have produced a detailed land cost budget estimate for the scheme. This is based upon scheme details in place after the Inquiry and the third party agreements entered into by the Promoters. This entailed isolating possible claims for compensation for all land affected, used or acquired along the full 16.6km of the extensions and giving an estimate of the expected costs to be incurred. This information has been detailed for each potential claim, enabling it to be used in the decision making processes during the subsequent detailed design process.
