Highways (Highways Act 1980 & Development Consent Orders)

Ardent’s experience in transport infrastructure means we are well placed to promote and exercise compulsory purchase powers under the Highways Act 1980 and the Development Consent Order process for the construction of nationally significant new or altered roads.

At Ardent we have significant experience in promoting and delivering linear transport schemes, making us better placed to deal with highways projects than most other Surveying practices.

Our expert team of compulsory purchase experts can help whether it is Land Referencing, land agency, consultation or valuation.

Ardent is currently advising Highways England on 9 DCO projects across the country, including the A428 in Bedfordshire/Cambridgeshire and the A12 in Essex. Initially undertaking desktop Land Referencing and securing environmental survey access. The next stages will see Ardent completing the detailed referencing and landowner engagement/ consultation (under section 44 of the Planning act 2008) leading to the submission of the application documents.
