Ardent’s experience in Transport & Works Act Orders (TWA Orders), Development Consent Orders (DCO) and Hybrid Bill processes is unrivalled. We have successfully promoted more of these Orders and Bills than any other company in the UK.

Most recently Ardent has supported Transport for London to promote its Bank Station Capacity Upgrade project and Northern Line Extension Project, Network Railway to promote its East West Rail Phase 1 project and West Yorkshire Combine Authority (WYCA) to promote the Leeds Second Station Entrance project.  Ardent has also been instructed by Network Rail on their East Coast Mainline Level Crossing Closure Programme and more recently on their Anglia network.

Since the Planning Act 2008 came into force, nationally significant railway schemes are delivered through a Development Consent Order (DCO) process (where they are not considered suitable for a Hybrid Bill process). Ardent has led the way in promoting the first ever successful Development Consent Order (consent granted in 2011) and is currently applying this experience to a number of other nationally significant and high profile schemes throughout the UK.

Our unrivalled expertise in this area allows our clients to benefit from our unparalleled ability to develop advanced concepts that provide cost, savings and risks mitigation throughout the promotion and construction phases.

As well as scheme promotion, we are specialists in infrastructure protection. Our Surveyors can respond to property enquiries, planning applications and developers on behalf of clients, ensuring that railway infrastructure and its operation is properly protected. Fees for this service can often be claimed back from the third party developers.
