On International Women in Engineering Day 2026, we’re celebrating the women across Ardent and the wider industry who are helping to shape the future of engineering.
This year’s theme, Engineering Intelligence, recognises the expertise, creativity and problem-solving skills that engineers bring to delivering solutions. At Ardent, we’re proud of the knowledge and perspectives women across our teams bring to the projects we support across the energy and infrastructure sectors.
We asked some of our colleagues to share their experiences and what they value most about their careers.
Isabel Doyle shared:
“What I love about the industry is that it’s always evolving. Every project is different, there’s always more to learn, and the connections you make along the way are just as important as the work itself.”
Nicola Dwyer reflected on her career journey at Ardent:
“I joined Ardent five years ago as a Land Referencer and have gained valuable experience and knowledge throughout my journey. I am now proud to be leading land referencing and survey access on a large DCO project, marking an exciting step forward in my career.”
With more than 20 years delivering major projects and national infrastructure, Viki James reflected on the importance of advocacy and supporting the next generation:
“For International Women in Engineering Day, I’m proud to reflect on more than 20 years delivering major projects and national infrastructure. Early in my career, I was often the only woman in the room, but I’m encouraged to see that changing across our industry.
As a WICE judge and now a female board member of an SME, I’ve seen significant progress, despite having no formal qualifications myself. One of the most important lessons I’ve learned is the value of advocacy. Positive change happens when people at every level, regardless of gender, champion others, open doors, and help create an environment where everyone can succeed.
I love what I do and remain passionate about supporting the next generation. My message to anyone considering a career in engineering is simple: ask the question, be brave, and don’t be afraid to put yourself forward.”
We’re proud to celebrate the women across Ardent and the wider industry who continue to bring expertise, collaboration and fresh perspectives to the work they do.
