Overview:
The Rinawade to Dunfirth to Kinnegad 110 kV circuit is an important part of the electricty network in the Midland region, comprising a 54km circuit. The client required support with the preparation of a planning application for the line to be uprated to accommodate the increased power flows driven by the continuing connection of new renewable generation in the Midlands.
Ardent were appointed by the lead consultant to carry out landowner engagement, landowner identification, and access planning in relation to ecological and environmental survey access with over 250 landowners.
Our Approach:
With a broad range of experience across the utilities and energy sectors, our team initiated early discussions with landowners in advance of strict deadlines for commencement of surveys to ensure timely submission of the planning application. We facilitated survey access by managing all procedural requirements, including securing survey access agreements, agreeing on access routes, and managing points of entry.
Our land officers maintained regular communication with the wider project team, utilising GIS, and enabling them to report on land access progress and quickly resolve any blockers or delays.
We also helped identify affected landowners where Land Registry folio information was unavailable, by using local knowledge and through interactions with other landowners.
Ardent’s specialist landowner engagement team, through open and meaningful communication with landowners, helped deliver agreements for access with over 95% of the landowners, safeguarding the client’s budget and planning timeline.
